You have probably heard the expressions: “Made in China”, “Chineseisms” or “Chineseness” at least once, and you know that they refer to objects or products of poor quality. When it comes to insulating glass production lines, the reluctance towards Made in China equipment can be quite high.
Why? Because there is the thought that the investment in such equipment will soon be repeated or that the technological flow will suffer in case of malfunctions.
This article aims to debunk 3 myths about Chinese-made appliances. Find out below why you should consider machinery and equipment made in China.
Why machines Made in China
We, Semper Fi Glass, represent on the Romanian market and beyond, even in Southeast Europe, a company from China that is currently among the top 5 Chinese manufacturers for thermal insulating glass production lines, in terms of production volume.
It may seem a little, it may seem a lot, but to give an example in numbers, everything that is produced in one month in Europe, in terms of the number of insulating glass production lines, our partner produces in two weeks. One supplier against an entire European industry, in number of units.
We chose to cooperate with Boke, our Chinese partner, because we found that he is very open and very willing to open the European markets, the Western markets, which are more sophisticated than the Asian markets. Those in the Boke team are very attentive and responsive to include everything that means new, innovative technologies in the equipment they produce.
3 myths debunked: what does Made in China actually mean?
After five visits to China over the past 12 years, it is very easy to dispel the myths surrounding Chinese equipment.
Myth 1: Inferior quality
One of the most circulated myths related to equipment from China would be their inferior quality. In China you can find very cheap equipment with a lower quality level, but you can also find premium equipment, comparable to absolutely anything that can be produced in Europe today. Therefore, we believe that we have managed to find that supplier that provides us with an optimal to superior price-quality ratio.
Myth 2: Unstable components
On the part of lower quality parts, we should look, inform and document from those who supply these machines:
- What does inferior quality mean?
- What do components mean?
The machines are equipped with parts of recognized brands, which you can also purchase in Europe. If a part breaks down, you can buy it in Europe, you can buy it from us, being affordable. The idea that these cars are not of good quality, do not fit properly, are unstable or break down quickly is quite outdated.
As a supplier of components that are included in our lines we can mention Siemens, Schneider, OMRON, YASKAWA, top names in the component segment.
These discussions about “Made in China” or “Chineseisms” need to be founded. On the first visit Semper Fi Glass experts made to China, they had a preconceived idea of what they would encounter. They knew these stories about “Chineseisms”, but there, in the first 30 minutes, 90% of the preconceived ideas were dismantled. After a few days, Mircea and Gabriel actually understood:
- what does china hardware actually mean
- what does china technology mean,
- how far they have advanced.
Our recommendation is to give us responsiveness regarding the solution we offer. We are the interface between the client and the big companies in the field and it is important to be able to come with the expertise to offer the solution that is really needed.
Myth 3: Service procedures
Another myth that should be dispelled is the service procedure. Many people think “If I buy the equipment from China, who will service the equipment for me?” As long as the representative in Romania is dedicated and has in turn chosen a suitable supplier, there should not be this problem.
The responsibility of the service falls on the shoulders of the one who comes to Romania and ensures the part of:
- sale
- delivery
- mounting
- training
- maintenance
- spare parts
- after-sales technical support.
In collaboration, we are under a contract, so it is our responsibility.
Why do we collaborate with BOKE?
We can state that we have a great support from the Chinese partners, a support that we have not seen from other companies, even European ones. We collaborated, even before there was Semper Fi Glass, with companies that produce machines in Europe, and the technical support existed, but not at this level, as it is in China.
The support of the Chinese partner is manifested or materialized in:
- the technical groups we have on WeChat, the equivalent of WhatsApp,
- videoconferences
- a prompt response from them in supplying necessary spare parts when, perhaps, they are out of stock.
Our current inventory of replacement parts and supplies strictly related to the insulating glass production line exceeds $70,000 in purchases. So, we can supply from stock in 24-48 hours maximum, any part needed for any line sold by us in the last three years in Romania.
If we managed to clarify these beliefs that you may have, and now you are thinking about how you can optimize your technological flow, contact us. We are with you to increase your productivity in the glass industry.
